Un buen hotel, aunque sobrevalorado. Hermosas vistas desde la piscina, pero nada de confort en las habitaciones por el precio pagado. El personal amable, pero un servicio bastante limitado. Bastante costoso para lo que ofrece, aunque los precios en general en la isla son elevados.

This hotel has one of the best locations in Avalon, with a breathtaking view that justifies its reputation—but unfortunately, not its exorbitant price tag. Beyond the stunning scenery and the peaceful location, this hotel is run with the bare minimum effort, feeling more like a Holiday Inn Express than the historic luxury destination it claims to be.

The breakfast? Identical to a Holiday Inn Express—right down to the uninspired selection—except here, you don’t even get a make-your-own waffle station. The so-called amenities are laughable. The pool, one of the only ones on the island, is unheated. There is no restaurant, no bar, no lounge—just a place to sleep with a great view. And even that experience was marred by barely having any hot water in our expensive room.

The staff was perfectly pleasant, but that can’t make up for how shockingly little this hotel offers for what it charges. Given its history and significance to Avalon, it’s genuinely sad to see it run with such little ambition. For these prices, I expected an unforgettable experience—not just a nice view and a place to sleep. What a disappointment.

We booked the historic room with an ocean view and everything was phenomenal. The room was clean, cozy and had a beautiful view. Breakfast was included which was a plus as we didn't know this. Also, the staff were all so kind. It is up a very big hill, which is great for walkers and hikers, which we did a couple of times, but they will pick you up from the boat and take you to town and back. They had a workable big TV, bottles of water and a little fridge. Everything was perfect. We had a wonderful time.

Great stay! Really enjoyed the staff and the accommodations. The views were spectacular and we enjoyed that the hotel wasn’t in the middle of town - a bit removed from the noise of the main drag. Very peaceful environment.

However, the biggest reason for the great rating is that when we had to leave early due to weather (the ferry was going to have to shut down due to high winds), they offered a refund without any expectation for them to do so! Truly impressed with the level of preemptive service. Would go back to this hotel again.

We stayed in their 3rd floor corner room for a night with 2 kids. The rooms are as described/ photographed… large, airy and clean. The panoramic views were amazing. We enjoyed the sunrise, sunset as well as the full moon reflecting over the water. The staff were very accommodating. The complimentary golf cart made the stay really convenient and communication with the front desk staff for pick up and drop off was quick and easy. The complimentary breakfast was sufficient as well. Love the local and personal feel of the hotel. This hotel would seem to be a nice place for special celebrations with plenty of lounge spaces and a rooftop space. I would love to stay here again. This hotel and their staff definitely made our stay in Catalina Island extra special.
