Not sure why they have a electronic filing system on their website because more often than not it doesn't work. If you need to organize a legal entity on short notice, DO NOT DEPEND on the Tennessee Secretary of State's website. Instead, prepare real paper documents and send them in via overnight mail. Also, getting help for a living person at the TN SOS office to help is about as predictable as their e-filing system. Good luck.

Literally, one of the most incompetent agencies in the Tennessee government. Their online filing system is about as predictable as the lottery, and what's worse, their real live customer service representatives struggle to understand or answer basic questions. Twice, in the past several months, after waiting extended periods of time to speak to someone, the representative literally feigns the ability to hear and then hangs up. It's a total scam whereby these folks (who are supposed to work for the people of Tennessee) simply avoid doing their job by pretending they can't hear you and so they hang up. What a joke!

Huge building, might want to ask the front desk clerk for directions. If you plan on visiting soon, do not forget identification as it will be asked for as you sign in with the clerk. Do not park on the curb or they will tow your car, you can't even sit to wait on someone to come out or they will tell you to move. Door dash always sends dashers here for the Chick-fil-A that's inside this building; I'm not sure why when there's one right down the street, but I'd say if you are a dasher and get an order here, parking may be strenuous and don't forget your ID or license or they won't let you up. Other than that, I did receive service in a timely manner and was in and out. The cons would only be the parking in my experience.

Please hire qualified people, not ones to fill quotas. I spoke to a complete idiot on the phone and twice she was telling me the wrong information. Then proceeded to scold me when I corrected her. If I know more than she does, she needs to hit the unemployment line. I ended up doing more research to solve my issue. Pitiful TN. Do better.
