I visited Arcata for a week for a trip to the redwoods and was looking for a gym to continue my workouts. The guy at the front desk when I came in for the first time was super helpful and welcoming. I wished I remembered his name, but I am bad at that. The rate for the week was reasonable especially considering all the equipment the gym is equipped with. I used the weight area, hot tub, and showers. There was so much more I didn’t use. If I am ever back in the area I would definitely come back.

I have a question about the salinity of the water in the pool. Is it normal? Is it sea water or is there really a serious problem with the cleanliness and level of chemicals inside? As far as I know, pools should not be unusually salty unless it is sea water. Thank you. I hope for answers before continuing with my training.

The tldr;

Great gym. Excellent weight room, plenty of cardio options. Wonderful classes for all types of members from young to old. Energetic personal trainers, friendly staff and accommodating to member requests.

There is a real sense of community between the members and management. They listen to their membership, trying to modernize the equipment and making the gym accessible to more people. Doug and Joe are both easily accessible to questions and concerns. As managers of the gym; they're both tremendously selfless with their work, you can see their integrity towards improving the gym and cultivating a positive environment for the staff and members.

My nephew really enjoyed and learned alot through the swim program. Sita has done an amazing job bringing in talented swim instructors.

Lastly their recent 12 Days of The Holidays was a nice way of bringing in friends and family in for free, and that 50% off start up was a great touch for the new year.

Great gym for all ages or levels of experience. Busy times are like most gyms. Gym etiquette is practiced by most. I’ve been able to workout without noting any issues from crowd or equipment. Price seems fair for what they offer, equipment/gym upkeep, and their great staff.

The gym itself is nice enough. The weight room and cardio room has all of the equipment and machines you might need. The group exercise spaces are minimal. The group classes themselves are great depending on what you like, but the fact that some of them cost an additional fee on top of an already ridiculous membership fee keeps me away, which is too bad. Overall, it's the only option in Arcata and therefore, they can charge as much as they want, which they do. If I had another option I'd go somewhere else, but it's the only gym in town. Our high membership fees seemingly paid for a new gym addition which you can't use unless you pay more. I really shouldn't have expected any better from them.

Friendly staff, enough bench presses for everyone and no influencers that I've seen. Big hot tub and lots of amazing helpful gym peeps.

I love the pool and sauna but the only problem is that everyone in the sauna room is naked and not covering themselves with towels

The facility is great with all the equipment needed for a great workout. I stopped in here while traveling and was easily able to grab a day pass for the gym. The pass is $25 which is quite steep, but it was hassle-free and the desk was staffed so I didn’t have to worry about calling or asking someone with a key tag for entry.
