We had the pleasure of going on a dolphin watching trip with Catalina Coastal Tours. Like all wild life watching excursions there is no guarantee to see anything. Frank aka Frankie was our tour guide. We started on a trip around the island to see the sea lions. As we watched the sea lions, Frank not only kept us in a great viewing position he also kept an eye looking off shore. Next thing we knew, he said I see dolphins. Let's go and see if we can catch up to them. We headed out to where he saw the Dolphins and sure enough there were dolphins. And by dolphins he found a pod of hundreds of dolphins. The Dolphins were jumping splashing playing by the boat surfing the bow of the boat. We got very lucky to spend the entire Excursion viewing wildlife!

Frank was an amazing tour guide, he helps set up the most amazing experience we have ever had!

We can’t say enough good things about our dolphin and sea lion tour with Catalina Coastal Tours and Fishing. We checked in at their office and were led to the dock to board the boat. We honestly thought the odds of seeing dolphins were low, but then our guide (I wish I could remember his name) took us straight out into the water to a big group of dolphins. Being a local, he was very knowledgeable about island life and knew exactly where to find dolphins. He even took our group around to see some of the island’s beautiful coast where the sea lions hang out. This tour was our favorite part of our cruise’s stop at Catalina. If I could give 10 stars I would, we highly recommend going out with this company and if good weather allows, you’re in for a great experience!

Our boat captain Scott was very helpful and informative about the island, really friendly and nice, and made us feel very safe out on the water. Really cool guy and very easy to talk with. Seeing Catalina from the water gives a great perspective and this was a very personal tour we really enjoyed!

This past weekend my honey surprised me with a weekend in Catalina island. He booked the sunset cruise we boarded the Redrum with captain John. My honey let the captain know as we boarded that he was going to propose to me and asked him to “take some pictures of us at sunset to make some awesome memories” we’ll captain John was amazing. He recorded the proposal for us and went searching for dolphins.. he did not give up and was on a mission to make this even more memorable than anyone could expect. He found dolphins and oh my god as if it wasn’t special enough a huge pod showed up and swam jumped and “played” with us for over a half an hour! Captain John was a great guy. Made this moment so unbelievably incredible. I highly recommend booking with this company!

On our last evening in Catina, we asked a local who they recommended to explore the ocean wildlife. We were fortunate enough to have Brent as our captain. He found a pod of several hundred dolphins that swam right along his boat! Truly an incredible experience. Also saw sea lions and seals. Would recommend this company without hesitation. He really took his time and seemed as excited as we were. Loved his energy and positive attitude!

Such an amazing experience. I wanted to be on a small boat for a tour and this was perfect. We couldn’t find the office for signing the paperwork and I was worried the boat would leave without us, but the staff was so accommodating. We got to see a pod of Risso’s dolphins, a bunch of sea lions and even some seals. The captain was so nice and knowledgeable about the island and its wildlife!

We went out on the Dolphin / Sealion tour this afternoon. It was a surreal experience!. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it was a 10/10 personalized experience that I highly recommend. It was worth the money and the dolphins swam right under our boat! The sea lions were easy to spot and curious. If you are looking for something fun to do in Avalon this is the thing to do!
