I've been passing by Big Bear Sporting Goods for years. I finally went to check it out & to my surprise this place is bigger than it looks outside. I bought a fishing license today so I could do some bowfishing 🏹 fishing for carp 🎏 .
Joe was very helpful & gave me a map of Big Bear Lake & marked a few spots on the map to try & shoot carp 🎏 from shore.

An awesome small-town tackle shop with everything you’d need to fish at Big Bear Lake. Staff was super helpful and made getting a license and rod a smooth process. The kind lady behind the counter explained where to cast a line, got us the stuff we needed, and was overall a huge help, especially since we had come from out of town and were strangers to the area. I would recommend to anyone coming here to check this place out before trying anywhere else, they won’t disappoint.

Sold me a garbage rod and reel and refused to accept the return. Brought them back in less than 90min after the purchase. I've never been treated with the blatant disrespect the manager engaged in simply because I asked for a return. He decided it was necessary to raise his voice and sling petty insults instead of having an adult conversation. Had to leave the store to avoid the confrontation escalating. They just don't care about their customers. Avoid.

Should not have spent our money here, we were sold a shotty fishing pole. we saved the receipt on our fishing pole in case we wanted to exchange/upgrade it. After the pole actually turned out to malfunction, it ruined the birthday fishing trip we had planned for family visiting us in town. We were told by the staff we could return it as long as we had the packaging. When we brought it back with the box and the receipt, the manager declined the original agreement to refund/exchange at all, argued with my partner about not wanting to take it back - that we would be ripping him off- and thought it was appropriate to call him 'entitled'.
