The sales staff at Auburn Honda are not ethical people. Since Auburn did not have the car I was looking for, I was tricked into “agreeing” to a price of a mythical non-existent car that turned out to be well in excess of the MSRP. Note that I was NEVER shown the MSRP sticker for this car.
When the car was finally delivered after multiple delays, I discovered the MSRP sticker hidden in the glove box the day after I drove the car home. I believe the MSRP Sticker was intentionally not shown to me. I called Jake Overland, my sales agent, who said there is nothing that can be done since I drove the car off the lot.
Unsatisfied with this response, I put a stop payment on my check in hopes that that would give me some leverage to negotiate the price on the actual car now that I FINALLY saw the MSRP on the car I have. I wrote a 4 page letter and sent it to Tom Cline and hoped we could rectify this situation.
Instead of reaching out in a positive way, Sales Manager Trae DeBeaubien called me today and threatened to call the police and have me arrested for stealing their car unless I immediately delivered a chasers check to replace the check I put a stop payment on.
This is an INSANE way to treat a once loyal customer built over 9 years with the service department, especially Jeff Prestidge, who has always treated me with respect and honesty, characteristics that are evidently not promoted in the sleazy, underhanded sales department.
I will pursue a Better Business Bureau complaint, since I realize I will get nowhere trying to get Auburn Honda to own up to their misrepresentations and make things right. They say they care about customer satisfaction but they obviously DO NOT.
DO NOT BUY ANY CAR FROM AUBURN HONDA.
