I love this place. Calm atmosphere (natural light! plants!), cool class options, knowledgable and fun trainers. Fully recommend 🙂

For context, I'm a young woman intimidated by gyms, and I'm highly averse to gym bro culture -- but I do pretty well here. I definitely wouldn't go anywhere else.

Definitely try it out if you're curious! They do the two-day complimentary guest pass, which eased my anxiety about "but what if I don't like it?"

The compression place sits proud and clean at MActivity. 285 Nicoll Street, New Haven. It is where the strong people go. You see them as you walk in. They are serious about their growing muscles.

The papers they make you sign are long and winding. Too long. But the water is free and cold and good.

The hands and machine that work the compression are friendly. They know what they are doing. They ask about the pressure. They maximize the pressure. It matters.

All around, the beautiful people move iron. They do not look at you. They are in their own war with gravity. You are in yours with tight muscles.

It is clean. It is good. The compression machine hums and does its work. When it is done, you feel different. Better maybe. The kind of better that costs money but is worth it.

They give you more water. You watch the beautiful people leave. You leave too. Your legs are lighter now.

*The truth: They make you sign papers like you're going to war, but the service is damn good

Just joined! A clean facility with sauna and steam room. A bit pricey but if you like taking courses, I think it’s worth the price. Point system to gamify/incentivize coming in. Looking forward to complimentary compression therapy and cryotherapy sessions! Their 2-day pass was great to try the place out before joining.

The free tea & coffee were replaced by ads for a new coffee shop with a one-dollar discount...It's been very detrimental to the collective lounge reading/working sessions which I appreciated so much about Mactivity. Returning from the summer, the community atmosphere seem to have dissipated, and things feel way more corporate, and the membership fee only seems to be on the rise. Just canceled my membership this morning - sad to say goodbye.

Mactivity is by far the best gym around. Can't ask for a better staff. Owners are hands on and most people are on a first name basis. Mactivity provide all the necessities required to keep yourself physically fit. Steam room, sauna, freeze booth (cryo), red light therapy. They provide classes including yoga. Staff offers towels as well. If you're running late and you forgot your coffee, there is a coffee shop right next door. There is a convenient store/gas station 2 doors down also. There is a special staff person who catered to members who have diabetes. Love this place.

The best gym I have attended in Connecticut. Staff are courteous, professional, and extremely accommodating. Price reflects the quality of service and attentiveness to customers wants and needs. Highly recommend if you are looking for a high end gym, with a great community feel.
